Does anyone know who fixed up the island by Powell's I would be worried one good storm or vandals would take away the time and money put into it.

If you are refering to the small island with Palm trees sand etc....

A friend of mine said the man wanted to own his own island and purchased for less than $1000. I have not seen it but from what I understand it is interesting to say the least. I heard the palm trees are a nice addition too.

yeah sure is, its very nice to be honest, just not sure how you would claim it as yours or purchase it when its a foot away from being under water. Well by any means, he def set himself a nice hangout spot up.

I'm new to the lake this year- what is Powell's and where is it? We love to see interesting stuff.... I guess you guys have seen the old man with all the benches, Jesuses (or Jesi) and deer statues on the west side of the main channel near poorhouse. I heard the guy died last year...

Coming from Poor House towards the dam you will travel past the cliffs and then past the Yacht Club on your right and as you go right around the next Bend.... the campground on the corner is Powells Campground...... The island is just past that on the right I believe.....

Near what I call, "bird island" and the "goat island" area. I gotta look up poorhouse, and see where that is. I hear it used as a reference all the time. Fr8t, I see you guys out all the time, but just don't want to interrupt the skiing to say hello. So for now...... Howdy. Plus its to hot to sit still unless you hop in. Yes we are determined to get the wakeboarding in this year..... Even boarded in the rain a few weekends ago.....

I don't know if it is the same place but in the LAKESIDE MAGAZINE (july 2009) Jim and Laurie Regan just purchased Grand Island. The pictures show palm trees and tropical scenes.

He just wanted to have a Island of his own. COOL
