Great job guys !!!!!
Thanks for all you do on keeping the lake as safe as possible.
Think the 4th was bad, you guys are going to have your hands full for the Aquapalooza weekend if all predictions of over 15,000 folks for the concert are true.
Plan on attending, but if it is mass kayos once we get there, might have second thoughts.

Reading your post reminded me to ask a question. We have three old (1994) single rider stand up style PWC. They are designed to troll in a circle when a rider falls off and do not have kill switches. We have enjoyed these PWC's for 16 years without ever being shot at by bass fisherman or dock owners or police officers. Does the kill switch rule apply to everything on the water?

PWCs with the "self circling" feature are excluded from the emergency shut off switch requirement. As in your case, these are typically the older stand-up style pwc.
All other pwcs, as well as boats less than 24' long AND with more than 50 hp engines are required to have an emergency shut off switch. For these boats the lanyard to the switch is required to be attached to the operator.

So the way I understand. Less than 24'. If your boat is registered as a 24' you do not need the kill switch attached to yourself. Can you clarify?

just get a KillSwitch (maybe $100) and wear it while underway. Imagine hitting a tree trunk submerged, getting you and your family thrown out of your boat (sans lifejackets), and watching it cruise on without you??
I do not wear a jacket in our boat, because at 95 degrees, it is just too hot! Maybe not smart, but there it is. So, wearing just a swimsuit, where , Oh Where does one attach the little killswitch dingle clip?? Nose ring? Not.
My wife made a wrist strap for me made of Velcro, permanently attached to the lanyard clip, that can be strapped at wrist or ankle. Easy to attach and remove, but holds tight when yanked. Comfortable and easy for about $2.

It is a good thing to have no mater the size of the boat If you can fall off, you should have one I think. I got a ticket 3 weeks ago from the game wardens on the NC2 for not having a kill switch. It's not that I was ignoring the law, I thought the boat's age exempted it. I did not know the law was retro active. So, I had one and had full intention to install it because there was a nagging voice in the back of my mind that with a open cockpit it was a good idea. But as we all face, I don't have time to install it right now......
The ticket got me off my butt and it was installed the next day. I all of a sudden found time to install it. That is what in most cases the MP do for us. Give us a kick in the pants to get it done.
As for the PFD's I want a self inflating type but they are pretty pricey. But I will get at least one of them for my dad. He's disabled and could not swim if we went down before I could get his vest on him. But as you say, the vest type are to hot in the summer. It's one of the things where you take your chances. But the light weight self inflatables are going to be on the NC2 as soon as I can get them.

Thank you. Hope you can keep it under control during Aquapalooza. I enjoy fireworks on lake and would LOVE to see Alan Jackson, but not quite sure about the crowd.

Good idea about the velcro attachment, I generally snap the line to a pocket (on some of my swimsuits), or at the waist (not very comfortable). Just have to remember - attach it to my wrist....
