The dems are at it again ... another NEW tax to pay for government healthcare.

Pretty soon Obama will propose to take all our earnings and then he will decide how much each person can have.

He is also proposing 65 billion for health improvements in Africa. I think he going to run out of other people's money faster than he believes. This man is dangerous and I have a hard time understanding how some people cannot see this. Everything he has done so far is to distribute wealth and lean toward one world government. In some states people are starting to wake up but I can only hope that others follow soon and stop this madness.

Proposals are not the same thing as a passed bill. I don't see why we need to spend money on health care in Africa -- Bill Gates has got that covered for us.

Every time a policitican or senior official goes ANYWHERE there is always a "gimme". They all LOVE to give stuff away. I've had to help come up with "gimmes" for all kinds of trips, not always very happily. I'm wondering what else Obama promised Africa.

I realize that but I posted that so that it shows his trends and agenda. So far it seems that whatever he proposed is passed but maybe Congress is starting to wake up a small bit.

You are so right. Politicians only care about votes and their personal well being. I don't think many put the best interest of the United States above their own selfish motives. Some probably go to Washington with good intentions but are soon swallowed up in the vote buying schemes.

What is it with Obama, in his live speach today he "committed" $63 billion to help them improve healthcare. Did he commit because he knows the dems in congress will back him, or can the president "commit" that much our the "american peoples money" without getting approval?

$63 billion for foreign aid to Africa? What will happen to this money?
-Well, I've always liked how one of Bill Clinton's appointees (forget his name at the moment) defined foreign:
Foreign Aid is when poor prople in rich countries are forced to give their money to rich people in poor countries!

Well, he can't just give it away without Congressional approval. I'm assuming State ran this by the Hill before he made the offer. Then State will draft the legislation and it will get tacked onto some other innocuous bill that probably has nothing to do with foreign assistance. Hopefully they will put some teeth into it like that the program will be administered though a US NGO or other charitable organization. If it is left up to State, they'll just dump it over there. State Department, I'm sorry to say, has no idea how to run these programs.

I have to say, for a woman that spent a good portion of her life dealing with international programs, I am very cynical about foreign aid. First of all, nine time out of ten, the people that really need it never see it. Then, the foreign governments don't appreciate it and pretty soon they are whining that it is not enough.

I'd rather see them take that $65B and spend it in the US.

Just curious, but how does Obama pay for all his czars and their staffs...did he get congressional approval?

They are appointed, so I'm guessing that they are "Schedule C" employees. That is to say, they are not on the General Schedule or the Senior Executive Schedule, which means he can pay them whatever they are willing to work for. They are paid out of the budget that Congress signs, but they are not "confirmation" appointments so Congress doesn't get to vote on each one.
They probably don't have large staffs -- I would expect not more than 10 people each (including admin staff, etc) and they generally don't get a large operating budget. At least, that is how I've seen it work in the past. New Administration, new rules.

So theoretically Obama could funnel 63 billion to Africa if the petty cash fund could handle it...without congressional approval.

Funds to Africa would be considered foreign assistance. My theory is that he's betting on the come that no one with a social conscience would vote no on funds going to developing nations for health care.

.....and I don't want ANYONE to tamper with my health insurance. I have cancer, in remission, (2nd time in 2 years) and waiting for the day my doctor says it has returned...which it will...late stages when diagnosed. I want my BCBS which has provided virtually 100% coverage. I want the best medical care I can get, and so would everyone reading this post. I can say this selfishly because I want to see my grandbabies grow up.

Everyone is entitled to health insurance and reasonable charges for prescription drugs, particularly if you are older and on a fixed income. I personally do not know the answer, but it should not be strictly government controlled.

It is my understanding that Alabama does has insurance for children whose families cannot afford insurance, which I think is wonderful.

Everyone deserves insurance, but everyone deserves the right to decide which insurance plan they want.

Have at it!....and on BTW, these are my opinions only and not based on any "polls", "websites", "news media", TV shows" etc. I look at it all.

I don't blame you a bit. When you have major medical issues, you don't want to be forced to change horses.

And I hope you are wrong -- I wish you a very, very long remission.
