Well I let most of the summer go by with out putting my G.M. back in the water. Last year I tested it and all works well but, did not have it deep enough.

I am ready to put it 16 feet deep which will call for about 56 feet of romex / so cord etc...

Question: Can I use romex or should I buy a 50 foot extension cord or do I need to go to Home Depot and get S.O. cord?

Thanks

I would not use regular romex. It is not UV resistant and will eventually break down. The cord that is used on the Green Monsters is direct burial cable which is both UV resistant and water proof and does not need to be run in conduit in the ground. You best bet would be a direct burial type cable.

Outdoor romex would work too. I believe it is gray in color. Do not use the indoor white stuff.

Direct burial SO cord has stranded wire while romex has solid wire. SO would be better to retrieve and roll up being stranded.

I agree. It would also allow for the cable to lay flatter on the lake bottom which would make it harder to snag with a hook or line.

I am not sure if your question was totally understood. Do not put any of these into the water. If and this is how I read your question you are going to have this wire on the top of the ground and you want to be able to pull it up when you want to. Then by all means use a 12 gauge extent ion cord. If you are going to put an outlet near the water and want the wire buried then use underground or burial wire. If this is what you are trying to do then I would also recommend a GFI outlet
