As the Right would say, "Now this sounds like typical liberal deal". However, it shows how deals are made and money exchanged. This cannot be something the Right is proud of. It shows how positions on an issue are often tied to money and not really to core beliefs.

GF, you and Archie crack me up with your feigned shock at one conservative group asking for financial remuneration to support or oppose legislation. Gee, let's make a list of liberal groups demanding payola for this or that. Let's just start with the poverty pimps Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton who have perfected graft..........

You see guys, this happens every day in Washington, DC and it is called lobbying. Entities with a vested interest in something pay someone with influence millions of dollars to carry their water. For example, staffers and lobbyists wrote the stimulus bill, cap and tax and the health care bill. That's why the Dem and RINO moron's in Congress voted for something they hadn't even read.

If this kind of activity really bothers you guys then I suggest you join me in trying to return the Federal government to the size and scope that was intended by our Founding fathers. You see, if we limit the size and scope of the government then companies like FedEx will no longer have to pay lobbyists to protect their financial interests from an overbearing, overintrusive, overspending and taxing Federal government.

I welcome your support for my cause and if you will each send me $100,000 I will do everything I can to stop this kind of lobbying graft in Washington, DC......and I am a lot cheaper than the ACU.

MM, you missed the point of the post. "The letter exposes the practice by some political interest groups of taking stands not for reasons of pure principle, as their members and supporters might assume, but also in part because a sponsor is paying big money.

At least the "Pimps" are consistent in taking money for their causes.

GF, I don't know if your post went over MM's head or under his radar. Maybe he's just not as brilliant as we have all been led to believe.

Don't sweat it Archie as I understood his point but apparently the two of you did not get mine. This is done all the time by special interest groups, lobbying groups, poverty pimps and all their ilk. What seems to escape your imagination is that the problem is not with the ACU or any other group. It is with a corrupt, overreaching government that spawns this type of behavior. Have some guts and be consistent with me and oppose the size, scope and intrusiveness of the Federal government so that companies don't have to pay "lobbyists" to protect their interests. If politicians didn't respond to this then no one would do it.

I am not a member of ACU or any other conservative group so I have no interest in defending them or critcizing them because they are sympton that liberals like you create with your desire for bigger, more powerful government. I desire limited government, lower taxes, less regulation and more control at the local level where politicians actually are impacted by their decisions and can be held accountable.

But neither you nor GF really care about that as all you are trying to do is cherry pick a conservative group doing what all these left wing groups and lobbyists do along with all sorts of right leaning groups. Sorry boys but you are going to have to do better than that.

By the way, just give me the word and I will send my wiring instructions for your $100k dontation and I swear I will put an end to all this evil corruption. You guys crack me up sometimes.....well GF does, Archie is pretty much humorless and seems oddly obsessed with my intelligence. I worry about him......

So, is such paid dishonesty and deception as bad when it is done by a conservative group as by a liberal group? Are you going to be a hypocrite on this too?

First of all I defy you to identify where I am a hypocrite on anything.

Second of all, if you reread my post, or have someone read it to you if that helps, you will see that I included conservative groups in the influence peddling game. And I am entirely consistent in not condemning either one, unlike you and GF cherry picking a conservative group while ignoring all the liberal and alleged non-partisan groups doing exactly the same thing.

So you are the hypocrite Archie because you apparently only condemn the conservative group, not me. I condemn neither and save my scorn for the corrupt government (of all parties) that spawns this kind of behavior. Hence my desire for limited government and my hope that if the Messiah continues on the same socialist course that he fails. I know I have to spell this out for you so you can maybe, hopefully, finally get it.......
