In my attempt to provide helpful information, I've updated the Mooring article with the following information:

IF RETURNING TO MOORED BOATS BY WATER (NOT EVENT SHUTTLES)
• People coming back to their moored boats by water (not shuttles) will not need credentials (wrist bands), however "roaming" among the moored boats once they are in place will be discouraged.
• There won't be room for additional boats visiting the mooring area. Attendees coming in by boat should not expect to be able to tie up to moored boats to join a party and stay. This will cause congestion in the mooring area. Officials will be "policing" the isles of the mooring area to be sure this doesn't become a problem.

2 questions - 1. If not moored up Friday, will boats be allowed to moor up Sat if space is available. 2. If not moored up, how can people on boats have access to the activities on shore? Thank you.

So if you are not lucky enough to get a mooring space you cannot join the party?

It sounds to me from all I have read from the Forum and other sources - this is going to be a major event like none other on the Lake or the history of the Lake.

There are going to be hundreds if not a thousand or more boats from all over the USA at the event. They (not home owner's boats or local boaters in general) will all tie up early for the best viewing area (or shall we say the best seats in the house).

It maybe if you get there on Saturday, you will not even get close enough to see the performance. I am not sure about hearing it. It will have to be a heck of a sound system and speakers.

I could be wrong.

I would be willing to bet there will be boats launched on Thursday for the event. There is a limited amount of launch sites on the Lake. Rememeber this is the Annual Sea Ray Boat Convention (I gather) for this group of boaters. They could be here in droves to link up with one another on one of the best waters in the World.

I do think it is important to attend if you can and desire to since it will add additional support for the event and the Lake Martin visibility.

Of course, there are many of us at times who do not desire the additonal visibility and desirability of our lake. Of course, we are being selfish. LOL

1. If not moored up Friday, will boats be allowed to moor up Sat if space is available.
Answer: Yes, taken first come first serve until the ~1,000 spaces are filled.

2. If not moored up, how can people on boats have access to the activities on shore? Thank you.
Answer: Shuttle boats will be making random runs through the boats in back.

Apparantly they are now allowing PWCs to tie up horizontally to the raft-up moored boats. PWCs will have access to the land via the beach area over at Church in the Pines (now according to the SeaRay site).

The plot thickens!

I'm starting to get a big concerned by the projected size of the event. My family is coming to attend with us on the pontoon boat and I've got a couple of concerns. I'm off Manoy Creek and did a dry run last weekend and it took me 55 minutes to get there. If the concert is over at 7:30, I'm a bit concerned about getting back and not getting lost. I saw a post on facebook that a radio station may do a convoy down that way from Pleasure Point - that might help. I just wonder if there is a convoy back (it's the nightime boating I'm worried about) since I've only lived there a couple of months. Also, I can't get there before Saturday morning and am too thinking I may not get moored at that time. I also bet you can't get a friend to "save" you a place next to them until you get there. I'm rambling, but want to be sure my family has an enjoyable and save time (and gets to see and hear the concert). Just going hmmmmmmmmm.

If you don't get a mooring spot, you'll apparantly have to drop anchor beyond the mooring spots... I'd imagine that most will drop anchor rather than float. I bet there will be many that either forget to bring or don't have an anchor.

A far as the party, I think the entire bay will be a party...

Im just hoping that youll be able to drop anchor in the general area and still hear the music, if not i may hijack the sea ray upfront with the six blondes in it..

You are right to be concerned. If you are not familiar with the lake you should avoid this event. It is going to be WILD and make the 4th of July look like a typically tuesday afternoon in July!

I just hope it's not deadly.

If their sound system is comparable to that used by Scrushy during some of his parties (and I'll bet it is), you will not need to be front row center to enjoy. The entire "Big Water" area around Kowaliga will hear it loud and clear. From Dixie Club to Real Island.
I personally do not want to be anywhere near the churn that can be expected directly in front of the stage. Or, even anchored behind the second row. View will be blocked by big Bad SeaRays anyway??
I'm gonna' sneak around Governor's Island and look for a spot to anchor, then break out the Q sammiches, kick back, and enjoy (maybe).

Hi everyone!

It's likely that I will lose my voice before the end of the day Friday. I'm answering all the phone calls and emails for the event. Every single one...and if I don't get back to you promptly, please be patient. For every call that I answer, I have at least 10 more ringing in.

"So if you are not lucky enough to get a mooring space you cannot join the party?"

Samdog, the entire Kowaliga bay area will be one big party on Saturday. You could actually turn your thoughts around and say "if I'm lucky enough NOT to get a mooring spot, I can be free to come and go as I please." There are just as many people who don't want to moor as there are who do.

"It maybe if you get there on Saturday, you will not even get close enough to see the performance. I am not sure about hearing it. It will have to be a heck of a sound system and speakers."

Feb, I will say that I'm very excited to have people from all over the country coming to Lake Martin for the very first time. The weather seems to be in our favor (for the first time, I might add). How cool to be able to share "the Lake experience" with newcomers and visitors.

Please do not worry about getting "close enough". The stage and sound system will be unprecedented. CMT will be recording this event and if you should miss it, you can view it on TV over Labor Day weekend. Also, remember that sound carries over the water.

4lakelivn,
Please don't take this as snide, but a boat is not complete without a map of the lake. I've been caught in the worst possible situations and with a light and a map, I can get anywhere on the lake in the dark. Have confidence. I mean no disrespect to Lakey, but I would never avoid the event, even if I didn't know the area.

Blue Creeker, we are doing everything within our power to avoid disasters and make this a top-notch event. But we are not miracle workers. We rely on designated boat drivers and hope that alcohol is not a factor as it on the roadways.

Things to have on the boat:
Sunscreen, a map of the lake, cell phone with Marine Police number programmed in (sorry I don't have it at the moment) in case you should run into trouble, designated driver, ice, food, life jackets for every person, anchor (it's 90 ft deep).

Hope some of this info helps.

Aqua Lady

Would be nice if you all made a GPS Hazard Overlay on a map of the area and made it postable Only regulars know where these are and still then some don't.

I think this is what people are talking about in being on the lake at night

Can't wait!

Is there going to be a video screen of any sort?

What FM frequency will the music be broadcast on(Local, temporary broadcast, I presume)?

This was mentioned somewhere, but if you want to raft-up beside another boat party, you need to all arrive at the same time to be assinged a spot together. It's first come, first serve. They will not be able to coordinate the chaos of holding spots for people that may or may not come later.
