I updated a graphic top-down map that indicates where the no-wake buoys will be located for Aquapalooza. It differs a tad from the original FERC request document I saw. In the real world today, the west side buoys go out to the island in front of Kowaliga.

There are a handful of house rental advertisers that have last-minute cancellations or are high-capacity. If you know of someone needing a place to stay, accomodations can still be found on this page. I created this page as a service for LakeMartin.com advertisers.

Thanks

Does the island in front of Kowaliga where people hangout have a name? I've not seen it documented anywhere.

Very nice. It makes sense now.

Bruce, have you heard if they will be broadcasting the entertainment and information on an fm frequency? Like a localized broadcast on an unused frequency?

That is a HUGE NoWake Zone. And, if the Marine Police enforce the NoWake speeds (sounds like they have that covered), then perhaps the event will not be as dangerous as the July 4th situation has been.
Does the NoWake Zone apply to PWC's?? Hope so, but that is a long way for a PWC to go before igniting the rockets.

I've heard many things (some untrue), but have not heard anything about a radio broadcast. The sound of the concert should carry over the water well.

As for rebroadcasting a performance that is rarely done. It gets into broadcast rights of the record label (in this case Arista Records). I guess the idea is if it is broadcast, many would not attend. Same with some sports event blackouts. If anyone knows otherwise, speak up.

As far as untrue things I've heard.
1) A lady in the barbor shop in Sylacauga insisted you could watch this thing by land. I don't know how they could have been any clearer about this.
2) It was reported in a magazine there would be a fee on Friday to moor. I think they got that mixed up with the fee at the Amphitheater concert.
3) A guy at the Sylacauga airport said that Alan Jackson bought Scrushy's house and this concert was put on by Jackson as a "Hey, I'm in the neighborhood party"... LOL

I corrected the lady in the barbor shop, but the guy at the airport was so convinced I let him continue to believe that story.

No wake applies to any watercraft (Boats or PWC)... However it is usually possible to go faster in a PWC and not make a wake.

Well, I didn't mean broadcast on a radio station for general public consumption. What I meant was a low wattage, very local broadcast to the immediate audience. MarineMax used to have movie nights on the water on Lake Alatoona and project onto a big screen so folks in the boats could see. They would also do one of these low power, very local audio broadcasts so folks could hear the movie.

My thought was that if they did that, it opens up lots of opportunity for ad sales and communication to all the boats in attendance.

Plus, see the photo in the link of last years' signature event in Mo. That's what made me think of it.

Why is there a large NO BOATS area on the map? I was thinking about bringing a paddle boat down with us good or bad idea?

This may no longer be the case since they are allowing PWCs in the Church in the Pines area. I'm reverifying that too. Drawings as late as June included NO BOATS buoys in that area.

They've made deviations from original plans to accomodate the current situation and whatever makes sense. Not saying they were right or wrong. There are a bunch of people working hard to make this event happen with as few problems as possible. I see the biggest problem will be crowd control. The reason for the restrictions.

The original FERC request was submitted in April. I see that the position of the barge is not exactly as in that drawing. It also looks to have another platform to the side. My guess is that is a camera platform if it's not the dance platform. But it's not very big.

Yes Hwy 63 will be open, they can't close a state highway. Traffic will be travelling north and south to get to the public event parking at the Amphitheater.

I asked this question in regards to taking photos from the bridge. They will have personell at the entrance to Kowaliga Marina directing traffic to the parking area at the Amphitheater. The area at the entrance (what they call Time Capsule Park) will be parking for the staff.

I heard late this afternoon that they have changed their minds about PWC's and now they will not be allowed. Is the true or just another rumor?

See Capt. Brooks comment above. As of 10:21 PM CDT tonight and according to Brooks, boats are allowed.

My thought is they probably figured the shuttles could not handle enough people wanting to transfer between shore and boat.

Stay tuned.

It's not known that there will be a radio broadcast. That being said, a radio station might show up with a truck. But apparantly there are no sponsors to that effect or no company designated to have an official broadcast.
