A client told me today that a couple of nights ago FoxNews genus and hero to many on this forum responded to an email comment relating to the healthcare debate that U.S. life expectancy was lower than Canada's. His response was that of course it was because the U.S. has 10 times the population of Canada. I've internet confirmed it actually happened. Now OReilly is free to say anything he pleases but do you guys really think he has anything useful to say. Of course he is a pillar of reason when compared with Glenn Beck.

I cannot dispute the actual life expectancy numbers but you cannot just compare those two numbers and relate it totally to health care. You would need to know how many people are averaged in due to auto accidents and other non-related health care deaths. Numbers don't lie but you can lie with numbers. So I am sure that both sides will use numbers that aid their point of view. I believe common sense must tell you that you cannot do what the Dems are proposing and not cause a large cost on our economy. You only have to look at every other program the government has started where the cost estimate was exceeded many times over. I see no reason we cannot have some change such as allowing one to buy insurance across state lines but do it one step at a time to see how it works. Doing a complete overhaul at one time is extremely risky and cannot be undone if it is a failure.

Suspect Architect has precious little time to watch OReilly.. He has a full plate getting the straight scoop from Cris Matthews, Keith Oberman and Rachael Maddow?? Could be wrong.. BTW, don't watch Bill O much.. He is a bit too arrogant for me..

I agree with you Astro ... one of the things I learned in my first "adult" job was that if you had a problem that was just too big to get your arms around, you break it down into smaller tasks that can be "fixed" and attack them one at a time. Trying to fix everything that is wrong with health care in one bill is a big mistake.

I also basically agree with astro and jAg, but the good or bad points of the present or proposed healthcare system in this country or Canada was not the point of my post. The stupidity of Mr. OReilly's answer to an email question was the point of my post.

Alahusker, sadly for whatever reason MSNBC is not available inside the city of Atlanta on Comcast expanted basic. Wish it was because I would enjoy listening to Olberman, Mathews et al from time to time. I do try to pick them up online on occasion but must spend most of my viewing time watching "World's Most Dangerous Profession" and "How it is made" on Discovery.

Not sure what the makeup is of his large audience, but I'm a staunch conservative and I don't watch him.

I can assure you that the vast vast majority of his viewers are more in agreement with you than me. Do you see any flaw in his explanation of Canada's longer lifespan? Can any conservative on this forum ever get up the guts to admit that conservative commentators can on occasion say something stupid and/or incorrect?

I often watch him and if you did I wonder if you might be the one to finally call him a something less than the brightest porch- light on the block and perhaps certifiably crazy.

I often watch him and wonder the same thing.

Archie, lets discuss WHAT and not WHO. I don't give whit as to WHO says something, but the value of WHAT he says or offers.

In my opinion Obama is systematically destroying everything that got us to where we are. What is right about what he is doing. Forget the Bush-bashing. What is OBAMA doing right, and why???

why do you always have to come back to explain the point of your posts? Why not be clear with your point in the first place. Why not have a little backbone and take a stand. Now what is it again that you feel Obama has done right and where do you thing his policies are going to take this country. Be a man and answer.

Architect .... I think O'Reilly, Hannity and Beck are all auditioning for the post currently held by Rush Limbaugh ... just like Olberman, Maddow, etc want to be the next Michael Moore ... I don't pay much attention to either of the extremes.

My two cents ...

Wow ... I can't believe you went there WW. You so very often start a thread with a list of data from one of those viral emails/blogs, that so often turn out to be less than accurate. And you call into question someone else's original point of view? Take a look in the mirror WW.

It is not the comments of commentators that concerns me. It is the comments of liberal representatives, senators, the vice-president and most importantly, the president that I abhor. They are the ones who want to control my life and my wealth and they have been enabled by voters such as you.

why is it you and the other Obama worshipers will never respond to what so many of us keep asking ... what is it of the "change" that has been so good for this country and what do you expect it to lead us. What is the result this path will take us? From your point of view? Why is that such a hard question for you people to answer?

What are his policies doing that you guys continue to support. You must see something others of us are missing, or have a believe that it is coming soon. Help us all understand and see things like you do through those rose colored glasses.

If you just open your eyes and read ... I did not challenge anyones point of view ... others challenged archie's view, he went back trying to clear up what he said. I simply asked what it is so difficult to say what your view is the first time. It always seems to need further clarification with him.

I like people to share their view of a topic and support their position .... and not just bash without saying what the alternative is or just support someone without saying what you think he is doing that is good for the country. The best I have gotten is he is better than Bush. I would disagree with that ... but if that is someone's view, at least support why you feel that way. But I would much rather hear what it is about Obama that you think is so great.

I come back and explain some posts because no matter how clear they are some people (guess who) seem too dense to understand it otherwise!

It is amazing and a bit frightening that none of the far righties
that frequent this forum have said that they believe OReilly's statement was STUPID. Surely you can't all believe he is correct!

In my humble opinion, ORielly is smart but arrogant. Hannity is not all that smart; the number of 'et ceteras and literallys' in a single narrative, drives me to distraction. Beck is bright, but silly.. All 3 misspeak on occasion, or say stuff I don't agree with; but hey, even "The Godfather" and my wife are not immune to this human flaw. And this is coming from a fairly staunch conservative, Archie..

He has said many stupid things...especially concerning big oil and profits. I didn't hear his comment on Canada, but stupid is hard to cure.

Being a regular listener of "The Godfather," I enjoy his arrogance, his huge ego, his irreverance and his humor...but most of all I appreciate his conservative philosophy and his ability to articulate that philosophy to his million of listeners. For those whose only knowledge of Rush is through the "drive-by media" (now the 'state-controlled media') soundbites, they won't understand why he's so successful just as they don't understand why he wants Obama to fail.
As Rush regularly reminds his audience, his opinions have been proven right 99.1% of the time.
