Any recommendations for an engineer/surveyor who can do a perk test, topo, and ADEM permit? We are building in a Russell Lands community. Thanks

Speakes & Associates in Montgomery can do all those things. Call Steven Speakes @ 334-262-1091.

In addition, I am an approved builder for Russell lands and would be glad to help you through the process. I would also be interested in giving you a price for your new home.

Shoot me an email, I know a P.E. that can do all that you need.

I agree. They are the best in the area. The various Counties and the State folks have a lot of respect for their services. This counts a bunch when you are building.

Elmore county doesn't have building inspectors in some places. Make sure that your contract specifies this item and who pays for it. You do not want to pay a huge sum of money for sub-standard work.

If you are building in River Oaks... The last time I looked, I thought it was in Talapoosa County. That means permits and inspectors. I also agree that Stephen Speaks is very good he did mine and did a fine job. While you are at it (surveying) have the house to water engineering done for the flood insurance exemption.
I hear that one of the best builders I have seen just finished a house in the Ridge. His name is John Lenear I'm not sure if the last name is spelled right. If you want I will try to get his number for you.

Good luck

Mike Arnold

it is not as aggraviating as it use to be. I'm not telling you to break the covs. but many have been in this neighborhood. make sure yore ground floor is above the 496 elev mark and flood ins should not be a problem. There are several eng. locally that will do as good of a job as the one spoke of earlier a lot cheaper. Have a topo, Loma, and a perk. go ahead and build a seawall before the house makes it easier.

Have a Spider Be Gone System installed while you're building to keep your new home free of spider webs (you do know about all the spiders don't you?) and all other insects.

We, Wildland Services, acquire ADEM permits every month for homeowners around Lake Martin. We also do monthly inspections at 35 sites around the area.

For surveys around the lake we suggest CGS Surveying (see business link above).
