"But I don't want the folks who created the mess to do a lot of talking. I want them to get out of the way so we can clean up the mess. I don't mind cleaning up after them, but don't do a lot of talking."

Anyone have an idea who he may be talking about??

the dems ... if he is talking about the financial mess. That is very clear and well documented and proven.

Since healthcare is not a mess I don't know why he is trying to totally change it. Plus since most of it is in the private sector maybe he is saying business should get out of the way so it can be run by government. But the piece that is run by government is a mess and full of corruption.

They guy just keeps saying one stupid thing after another. He is a total embarrassment to our country.

I'm not saying anyone should agree or disagree with Obama's comments, but here is the extended version of what he said.

THE PRESIDENT: And then we start getting into the whole issue of spending. Now, let me tell you, Virginia has a history of prudent fiscal policy. That's what Tim Kaine has been about, and that's what Mark Warner has been about, and that's what Creigh Deeds is going to be about. (Applause.)

So now you've got folks on the other side of the aisle pointing at the federal budget and somehow trying to put that at our feet. Well, let's look at the history. When I walked in, we had a $1.3 trillion deficit. That was gift-wrapped and waiting for me when I walked in the Oval Office. (Laughter.) Without my policies we'd have an even higher deficit going forward. The one exception is the recovery package that we had to do in order to get this economy moving again. (Applause.)

So you can't go out there and charge up the credit card, go on an all kinds of things shopping spree that didn’t grow the economy, hand over the bill to us, and then say, why haven’t you paid it off yet. (Applause.) I got that bill from you. (Laughter.) So we've got some work to do. I don't mind, by the way, being responsible; I expect to be held responsible for these issues because I'm the President. (Applause.) But I don't want the folks who created the mess -- I don't want the folks who created the mess do a lot of talking. I want them just to get out of the way so we can clean up the mess. (Applause.) I don't mind cleaning up after them, but don't do a lot of talking. (Applause.)

everything he says is misleading ... the deficit he "walked" in to included spending on the Iraq war. Big difference ... his spending does not and does not count the $800 billion in "wasteful" stimulus spending.

This is a man on the defensive because his offense is a failure and he is dropping like a rock in the polls and his healthcare is going down in flames.

Basically his feeling is if you don't agree with him you are wrong. He does not believe in debate and discussion to find the best answer for america. He forgets he represents the people and the peoples wishes ... NOT HIS.

well we all know people like you have multiple alias'. But what does that have to do with the price of tea in China?

But if it is true ... I am proud of every vote from you and GF. :)

I don't necessarily agree with Obama either WW. He did inherit a big deficit, and as you say a lot of that was war related. I would further wonder if the things he has done since taking office have been helpful or hurtful. Obviously you think hurtful, I am simply not sure.

He is doing what politicians do ... which doesn't exactly jive with the whole "change" thing does it.

As far as "Basically his feeling is if you don't agree with him you are wrong." .... no offense WW, but that is pretty descriptive of you as well. The difference is if you are wrong it isn't going to hurt our country. If Obama is wrong we are in serious trouble.

"He forgets he represents the people and the peoples wishes ... NOT HIS." This was actually one of my problems with Bush (I am the decider). Although, you have to admit that the Executive Branch isn't the representative portion of our Republic - that would of course be Congress.

WW none of Bush's deficits included funding for the wars in Iraq and Afganistan. They were financed off budget with special votes for emergency funding as was Katrina relief. It did of course add to the debt but not, at least in accounting terms, to the deficits. It was frankly dishonest and Obama has put war spending and money for estimated relief funding into the budget as it should be. You might say Bush's actual last budget was $110 billion+ more than it has been reported. Of course bush's last deficit if we are being accurate should have included the $600 billion for TARP funding so dispised by you but never credited to or blamed on your hero Bush/Cheney regime.
