Again. All of them found in the same place at the same time doesn't sound like natural circumstances either.

We need to either stop sacrificing goats every year, or find out who is killing them and sacrifice them instead.

Oh gezzzz John, you're kidding! No No not again...........
Oh man. Marhia1 and I were just talking about them on the phone tonight.
About how this forum could start and realistically raise a fund for them.

There is a way to keep them on the island. But it will take some REAL enforcment.

You know, I made a comment in the 4th video of how there were people camping on the island with large dogs loose.

OK,,, any way. this bums me out as I finish my work for the night... They are showcased in the video 48 Hr's on the NCII...

This whole goat thing is the one of the dumbest things. Who is the genius that says "Hey let's isolate some goats on an island and rely on some people to suppliment there diet when they eat all the natural vegatation to the ground. It will be so cute to see little Johnny and Sally feed them off the pontoon boat." What a joke!!!!

An old cattleman said they will always loose the goats until they get a donkey out there as they will kill dogs and such that prey on small animals !

They had a donkey out there several years ago. Look, I love taking grandkids, visitors, etc. to see the goats but, if they can't be protected, for Gawd's sake, get them off the island. And no, I'm no PETA Freak, I just can't stand cruelty to animals and this continual "stocking" of sacrificail goats on this island is nothing less than morbid, stupid and rediculous.
Just my 4 cents worth.

I hate it that something happened to them. I took a boat load of kids by there Saturday, that have never seen them, hoping we could spot them but obviously this explains why we didn't. We did however see people walking around on the island and a guy on the back side with a dog walking around.

The goats have plenty to eat on that island in the Spring, Summer and Fall without anybody feeding them. Obviously Winter would be rough if they weren't moved.

This just makes me heartsick. I can't understand what would posess someone to hurt these creatures. They were so friendly and trusting -- we went up to see them one day and took some food for them and they came right over. I'm sure the kids really enjoyed them.
Between this, and the PWC that ran over the goose, I'm starting the week feeling very sad. I'm not a PETA person, but I do love animals, as I know many other people here do too.

that a herd of goats lived on that island for a very long time and seemed to do quite well. And I'm not talking about in the olden days, when people and boats were few and far between. It only seems like the last 10 years or so, maybe less, that we have run into a consistent problem with keeping the goats alive.

If there are now so many people on the lake who have no respect for some of our living, breathing creatures, what else do these people not respect, and how do they show that lack of respect? And where does it go from here?

The goats were not hurting/bothering anything/anybody, but, they brought joy to adults and children alike. Didn't cost anybody anything that they did not want to contribute to their well being.
So, they had to Die. Act of Nature?? Nope.
Act of Man.

Some of the boaters on the lake have no respect for the safety of people...What makes you think they would have respect for animals?

Do we know what killed the latest sacrificial goats? I have heard alot of talk about dogs and, every time I go by there on weekends, there are campers with dogs. If it is, in fact, dogs that are killing the goats, why do these idiots take their dogs to the island?

Natural Ballance dog food is now two bucks a can. Are they finding dead goats or just knawed bones?

animal cruelty to even put goats out there. We've had, what? 14 goats now killed in two years' time? I think I heard a local vet was placing the goats out there. It just isn't right to continue this insanity just because people like to ride by and look at them. After two incidents (the first was enough for me), the people responsible need to realize this isn't a good thing. Those goats were, more than likely, pasture-raised and tame. They had no defenses on that island. I'm sure I sound like a bleeding-heart PETA person, and I'm not that, but this is rediculous.

Why doesn`t the people responsible for putting the goats there come on here and respond to this matter, and state their future plans ??
