The party boat was out last Saturday night with the loud rap music till 10:pm. This is disturbing the peace. Does anyone know who we can contact or who is running this show.

Unfortunately, I believe you are going to find that disturbing the peace doesn't go into effect until 11:00pm. And then because the lake is divided between 2 counties, you'll find the police won't respond because they can't determine what county the boat is in, even if they could tell, they don't have a way to get out to the boat and do anything. According to the marine patrol, they don't have jurisdiction on disturbing the peace. I feel for you but it's no difference when a ski boat with loud music comes blaring through during the day where you can hear it from inside the house. Or the loud boats that scream up and down the lake. Party boats park at School Bus Island and crank the music up. Marine police can't do anything about it. And when someone complains, they turn it up all the way.
In my opinion, I pick my battles and that isn't one of them. The way I look at it, I'd rather it be a boat cruising instead of a party next door every week. But I do feel for you.

Gotta agree with Dave on this one although I don't like it either. I don't see the party boat often but we have a wakeboard boat that comes by way too close to the piers (my opinion only) and he seems to always have his ballast tanks full whether pulling anybody or not. Add in some really loud, bad (again, my opinion) music and he's just obnoxious. But he's legal as can be as far as I can tell.

Maybe throw an etiquette book at them is about all you can do.

Good luck,

Unfortunately makes sense but this a large houseboat that goes out of the old Marina Bay out of Clear Creek and south toward the Dam. That would be Talledega Co. Seems to be the same group every time.It is leased for parties. This was the 3rd time that I have heard them. It is amazingly loud with vulgar rap lyrics. Thanks for the reply though. Disturbing the peace does not have a time limit legally.I once had Pell City PD bust some people at a public boat launch on a Saturday afternoon for playing music with offensive language too loud.

Maybe you could go after the boat owner for the offensive lyrics. The captain is responsible for all that happens on his boat. I know the whole lake would be eternally grateful if you were able to stop the loud music. At least the vulgar lyrics. Good Luck!

Lets face it, the party boat is LOUD and obnoxious, theres no doubt.

But the most obnoxious noise on the water these days is jet skis and seadoodles... UUUUDDDDDEEEEEENN UUUUUUUUUUUUUDDDDENNNN

Seems nobody cares to complain about those THINGS

Well, everyone comes to the lake to let loose and enjoy it. Seadoo's, wakeboarding, and yeah the music too are all things that people really enjoy at the lake, and there was probably a time that you came to the lake to do the same things. There are limits and you need to respect other people but loosen up on things, thats why the south end of logan martin is so enjoyable is the enviroment of things and the people that you get to meet and hang out with. Wouldnt be much to talk about on here if there was nothing going on.

"He who is lucky enough to live on the lake is lucky enough", in spite of the issues, i.e., spiders, geese poop, seadoos, music, snakes, etc., that occasionally disturb us. Thousands of people would love to exchange places with us.

Helloooo, Newman. Got no problem with partying , music and having a good time. I have problems with blasting songs where every other word is the F word and little kids are around. If thats your idea of fun at the lake go inside and party, but respect your neighbors. The people I called the cops on were drunk, blasting the F word , peeing in public, and cussing evrybody out that came near them. The cops wouldn't have popped them if they weren't causing problems and this was happening every weekend. Hasn't happened since though. Hope it wasn't you.

Nope, def was not, I do know how to respect others and their own surroundings. I agree with you on that part, thats no way to act in public or around a family atmosphere.

I guess I can honestly say that Ive never been much of a "let loose" kinda guy. The times may have been were in some fairly seedy nightclubs, lol.

Ive driven a seadoo once,, didnt see the fascination with it but can honestly say Ive nearly been run over by em several times.

To each his or her own I suppose but I prefer quiet and simple. Much prefer a lake with grass beds, stumps and logjams but our place is VERY well suited for my wife, daughters and grandkids preferences so I get out early and fish a while until the peace and serenity is broken or some person with no respect for others on a wakeboard or seadoo run within 40 feet of me while Im fishing,,, as happened two weeks ago and has happened more often than I can count over the years.

It never ceases to amaze me that the water between School Bus Island and the bank seems so attractive to boaters and seadoos while people might be fishing the hump there,, ITS A BIG LAKE

I first made reference to this back in June. Knew it wouldn't be long before others felt my sentiments. There are adds for this boat in the local lake magazine, maybe someone could call and let him know how the "locals" feel about the situation. It's my understanding that he is a local and should have the Lake's best interests in mind... Lovin the Lake! Stephen

The State and Pell City Marine Police have been working onn the Party Boat issue for a while now.  The vessel was cited this holiday weekend and required to move its point-of-departure away from from the Skyline comminity.  The Mayor and Chief of Police met with the homeowners association in that location last night.

Please send any comments or complaints about this, or any other vessel, to the Pell City Marine Police at dockwatch@epell.net.  They will be working with the State Marine Police and Coast Guard on any issues.

Thanks!
