Had planned to boat over to Harbor Docks Saturday night - but the Good Lord provided liquid reason not to.

So we decided for S&Gs to make the drive up 259 and 22 to Alex City, 280 to Dadeville, and 49 to 34 (33 miles). Ate at LMOB.

Place was packed, but we didn't have to wait for a table. The manager on duty ran a tight ship, and the service was punctual enough, especially considering the number of customers.

The oysters were tasty, yet a bit on the juvenile (i.e., small) side. The salad was acceptable and the fried food (catfish, oysters, and alligator nuggets) were good, although they had been out of the fryer a bit longer than I would like.

In all, a pleasant experience, but not one I would drive 66 miles round trip for very often.

Did drive down the road, and while I wouldn't pard the boat at Blue Creek and walk across the bridge, we might park and walk to Niffers -- but the reviews have been mixed and I am not sure it would be worth it.

That is what I had heard. Thanks for the warning...does anyone have an actual measurement in inches of the vertical clearance under the hiway 49 bridge? I hope that at some point as the water recedes we will be able to motor over to Christopher for a meal.

I have never had a problem at Niffers. Maybe I'm just lucky. There lunch specials are very reasonable too.

Good for a burger or a hamburger steak. Haven't found much else there that they excel in though.

I'd rather eat at Oskars than Niffers. Just like the atmosphere and the menu better.

Went for Sunday Brunch last Sunday at Christopher with a large group of 13. The buffet was outstanding for what I considered a reasonable price. Service was a little slow but probably should have been expected due to the size of our party. The owner stopped by our table and was very nice and attentive to our needs. Overall a great addition to the lake dining scene although it would be nice to have better water access.
