To borrow from an earlier post by Architect - new jobless claims rose to 558,000 last week, retail sales unexpectedly dip in July, Obama approval in Rasmussen survey of likely voters at an all-time low of 48% and dropping, in Gallup poll Obama approval rating is at an all-time low of 53% and dropping (4% lower than Bush at the same time in his Presidency), Obama Presidential approval index remains negative, close to 60% of likely voters oppose Obama-care, 51% of likely voters fear the government more than private insurers, in Virginia the Republican candidate for Governor leads by 9%, in Pennsylvania the likely Republican candidate for Governor leads Arlen Specter by 20%. Democrats across America jump from the roof of their hybrid cars, sprain their ankles and then whine about having to spring for the $25 co-pay, saying it should be free or at least paid for by the productive but evil Republicans!

Did y'all miss me?

As I said several weeks ago, one decent month does not a Pesident make. Although, Archie would probably argue that. That was quite a prolonged recovery. Yawn.......... Good to have you back MM. Where you been?

Welcome back. If you read all you missed, you'll see not much has changed. We're right and they're wrong.

One clarification....Arlen is running for the Senate, not Governor. I am betting money that if he continues to trail Toomey he will lose the Democrat primary. There is already a challenger.

Decided to give the forum a rest for a while and spend more time at the lake. Both were good but I thought a drive-by posting would be good to keep the creative juices flowing.

Obama inherited a deficit of $455 billion of which $325 billion of that number was the TARP bailout that he supported and voted for as a Senator. Since then he has added $787 billion in porkulus, $33 billion expansion of SCHIP, another $330 billion in bank rescue money and signed a $410 billion for discretionary spending (8% increase) for a grand total of $1.56 trillion in new deficit spending.

Kind of makes W's $440 billion seem like a piker. I know, it's all Bush's fault........

Welcome back Martini, The Right was floundering without you. All they can write about is Food and Restaurants on Lake Martin Topics. Poor Water Man had to resort to the Left trick of cut n paste. That man hasn't had an original idea since Nixon was president.

As to you, you hibernate when the news is promising but let there be a blip of bad news and you come out like a groundhog.

Glad to hear you have some time to enjoy the lake.

I went on sabbatical while the news on the economy was still bad and the Messiah's numbers were in free fall. So far the only good news with any legs is the growing optimism of more economists and the Fed that the recession is hopefully ending. My post was really meant to tweak poor Archie who pounces on any signs of good news and assumes we will be unhappy. Nothing could be further from the truth. I have laid off a number of employees and have many friends out of work. I would love for the economy to turn around, and it will despite Obama if he continues on his current ruinous course or partially because of him if he gets his domestic act together.

Time at the lake has been nice, especially with so much water this time of year. Added a wakeboard tower to my boat just in time for my 18-year old wakeboarder to decide hanging out with his friends at home is more fun than the lake........sigh.....

All you need to do to get your son to the lake is throw him the keys, some gas money and food for his buddies - you would not be able to get him out. :-)

Here's Archie. Even at 66 I work for a living and work load has gotten so heavy in the last couple of weeks I've had to spend more time at the drafting board.

Here's hoping although it is a sad day when we trail Europe in an economic recovery. Then again, we are being lectured by Europe about our mad rush to socialism so its no wonder they are recovering first and had a less deep recession. There are still some simmering landmines, not the least of which is commercial real estate. I hope they don't collapse as we saw with residential in some areas of the country. I also think we have to worry about inflation that may result from the Fed printing money if we can't find takers on our ever increasing debt.

Glad you are staying glued to the drafting table....

Scary thought but true. He has been working on me for just that. It's not that I don't trust him because I do. Great kid, never in any trouble, always know where he is and who he's with, well formed friends and so on. Its just a lot of responsibility for an 18 year old. We shall see if he can work me over enough to let him give it a try.
