We are headed to the lake tonight and have never really ventured into Alex City to eat other than Arby's or Zaxby's. Does anyone have any recommendations? We will have our 5 year old with us.

I don't remember the name, but there is a Mexican restaurant just down the street from Cecil's that is also very good.

Afraid I don't share other's enthusiasm for Cecil's. There isn't a huge choice in Alex City. With a 5 year old, you might want to try Jim Bob's Chicken Fingers. Basically chicken fingers, wings or cat fish fingers, with fries and coleslaw. It's on Cherokee Rd.
There is a Ruby Tuesday's on 280. There is also some kind of buffet place. Never been there, but the parking lot always looks full.

Suggest you check out La Posada in Dadeville if y'all like Mexican.. Price, service and quality of food, these guys/gals are doing a very good job..

I thought Cecil's would be good because of good food and not a bad environment for a child. However the child may be board to tears. My Aunt Glenda has worked there as a server for years and I never heard a bad thing or thought about people taking children from her.

There is always McDonald's and the happy meal I guess. :)

We ended up at Zaxby's, the 5 year old choice. She ate 1 1/2 grilled cheese sandwiches some fries and a chocolate chip cookie.

We'll have to try the other suggestions out another time.

The lake was beautiful today! Hate that we had to leave to come home.

On my way to Home Depot this morning I saw they have a sign that they are opening one on 280 in Alex City as well. I agree they are good but Dadeville is a bit of a trip especially after a couple drinks. The sign just said coming soon. It is just past Winn Dixie on the same side.

That'll be a nice change, although you have to wonder how profitable it will be to operate 2 locations relatively close to one another. On my last trip to Auburn I noticed that they now have a deck on the one in Dadeville.

They will have our business, especially when the weather mitigates against traveling to eat via the water.....I doubt we will make the drive to LMOB or that area again. Just too far, but the W-D is only about a 13 mile drive for us - and we love Mexican food...er Margaritas...:>)

Carlos (last name excapes me, senior moment or maybe one too many miller lites) runs La Posada in Dadeville. Work out in same gym, introduced myself once well over a year ago, and he refers to me by my first name to this date. Manages a great staff and service. This is the kind of industrious immigrant I welcome to this great Nation.

Cecils is OK and some dishes are good. I'm worried about the looks of it though. It is starting to run down a bit. I guess the restaurant biz is tough all over. Ruby's is pretty good although since the change of managers it's not hitting on all cylinders. If you are into fried Jim Bobs does chicken fingers the best anywhere....smokes Zaxbys. The Big "B" is an average BBQ..not bad. I don't like the mexican place in A-City at all. Try La Posada in Dadeville.
