Ate there last night. Place was packed, and it is easy to see why. More of the relaxed, fun atmosphere like Cecil's on the lake and Dockside used to have, and good food - at a very reasonable price.

We shared a dozen raw oysters - as good or better than LMOB and maye a bit larger, and I had the grilled grouper platter and my wife had the fried catfish platter. Both meals were good, and the waffle fries were a very pleasant surprise. Service could have been a wee bit faster, but they were "slammed" at the time, and after all you don't take a 10 (or more) mile round trip on a pontoon boat to be in a hurry to eat.

The atmosphere, food, and price (dozen Oysters, two meals, a margarita and a beer was under $50) make Harbor Docks a definite keeper.

The food has been good every time we have eaten there. They have the largest portions on their appetizers I have ever seen any where.

Do they have a tuna dip appetizer? If so have you tried it?

They do have the tuna dip. It is served with saltine crackers. it is probably the second best we have had (the best ever was at "The Origianal Point" in Orange Beach). I like to sprikle a little tobasco over mine. It is well worth having.

You (and everyone) have to try the batter fried zuchinni. It is absolutley the best.

I am not a big fan of Squid, but their appetizer of Calamari is excellent also. It is tender, not chewy like most, and well prepared. You can't go wrong with their appetizers or main courses. A note about the "smoking area" that was mentioned a few days ago - give us a break! Non-smokers have the air conditioned rooms and I hope HD owners will allow those of us who do choose to smoke to continue enjoying their restaurant the way we choose. Something about raw oysters, cold beer, a cigarette, and dogs helping me eat that make my day.

Why should you get to sit outside enjoying the fresh air and the live music, while the non-smokers have to sit inside and breathe recycled air? How about YOU give US a break and try to curb your unhealthy addiction long enough for the rest of us to enjoy a nice meal without breathing your smoke?

I never understood the rationale of smokers rights. Yes you have the right to smoke but you do not have the right to make me indulge the residual effects. Would you like it if I farted while you were standing next to me or was eating your meal. Absolutely no difference. Cigarettes stink to high heaven!

What a whiner. You would make a good wife.

about a really good place by water within reach of us "WestSiders" without too many choices. Sorry about the resulting bashing about smoking policy. Amazing how many non-smokers are bumming smokes after a few drinks?? Huh?
