1/ Dow up 2800 points in last 5 months, 42%, most in over80 years
2/ 53% of employers expect to hire in in the coming year
3/ Consumer confidence at 12 month high
4/ Existing home sales up 7%
5/ New home sales up 9%
6/ New home starts show largest increase in 2 years (+5%)
7/ Home prices up 3% for 2d quarter. First increase in 2 years
8/ Durable goods production up 5%. Biggest increase in 2 years.
9/ Treasury announces banking system steady and no additional
federal bailout needed.
10/ Sen. Ted Kennedy passes.

All this in the past week. I wonder which items some of the posters on this board, in their private moments, will celebrate and which they will mourn?

does not give me reason to celebrate.. Let's see, double digit unemployment, projections of a $1.68 trillion deficit for 2009, and an estimated $9+ trillion for the next decade?? Guys, I'm no economist, but this 'dog don't hunt.' The "change" we are going thru is not sustainable, collapses an already broke bank.. As I think about, I get all 'wee, wee-ed up' about the government and debt my kids/grand kids will inherit from this group of clowns representing us in Washington.. good grief..

and next week ... and the next two generations having to pay off the debt Obama has created in 6 months and will be 7.5 trillion over 10 years just based on what he already committed to.

But we are all enjoying the limited recovery in the stock market. Has made me feel better and spend more. Now just another 5,000 points and we will get to the levels achieved under the Bush recovery after the Clinton recession and 9/11.

Do you think BO will get us there Archie?

My calculator doesn't have enough "0's". Figure up what the interest on $9,000,000,000,000 when the rate goes to say 21%, which was common under the last great democrat socialist named smilin' Jimmy Carter. Betcha o-BAMA's boys haven't built in the increasting interest rate for borrowing all that money. What you want to bet?

news is that a vast majority of the 'stimulus' money has not been borrowed nor spent yet........the American people may be paying enough attention now to show up at the polls in '10 and split this gov't so this insanity can be checked. I hope to never see another unified gov't as long as I live.......regardless of the party.

amen

I love when congress can't get anything done because it is split. It is good for the country and the people since it means government will not grow and less spending. When they are able to reach an agreement is is good for all and in the best interest of the country as a whole.

Was listening to the radio early Monday morning and, yes indeed, real estae sales were up in Atlanta. However, the overwhelming majority of sales were in the under $100,000 market. Home sales for houses over $250,000 were down 36%. I didn't even know that you could buy a house for under $100,000. I guess that's just the "elitist" in me.

Bingo - some do not understand why I believe that gridlock in D.C. is a good thing.

With regards to #10 - I do feel for his family and friends, but the past few weeks has been another example of "we are better than you". When a Repub was Governor, King Ted requested that Senate appointments be scrapped in favor of an election, now that that a Dem is in office - a flip flop. I do not understand how people want the Government to control more, when it is clear that they are NOT looking out for the best interests of our country or people. If you want a ruling class, the Constitution does not allow it - I would suggest relocation.

Hypocrisy and it's even more common in politics than religion but I have never seen it so over the top and breathtaking than among many of the posters on this forum!
