Some of you may remember a Spearfisher thread back in 11/11/08 titled Biden's Prophecy.........seems it may be revelent today. 'The US ( according to a US source for a Polish daily Gazetta article) has abandoned plans to install a missle defense system in Europe'.....Poland and the Czech Republic. This was a system agreed to and details worked out by all parties in the previous administration.........that is now being sh!t canned by BHO. Would one of our liberal friends care to take this on and give us justifications and the benefits of throwing the Eastern Europeans under the bus, and leaving Europe exposed to possible Iranian missles? What possible benefit is this to the US?

Agreements with Russia.

Actually, it's because the Missile Defense is a bloated and behind schedule program, and there are doubts how effective it would be anyway. This is not news -- I knew it at least 3 years ago when I was working. I had a team of 4 engineers who worked with the Missile Defense Organziation.

So, since Russia doesn't like it and we want Russia's agreement on a number of fronts, it appears we are going to abandon it. Bush should have abandoned it years ago. The program was cut back a number of times based on poor test results, but every time the Defense contractors rattled their sabers for Congress on jobs, and the thing hung on.

This is some new treaty. I suspect also cooperation on Iran, but I don't know for sure.

Do we really expect a terrorist state is going to go to the effort and expense in developing a reliable missle to attack us or our allies when they could sail a rusty tub of a freighter into New York or Gadansk harbor with a bomb in its bilges?

The concern is that Russia will continue to help Iran with their nuclear programs by selling the materials that they need. And that Iran will provide the terrorists with nuclear devices. The intel on the efforts is scary. There are a lot of efforts by terrorist factions to obtain materials though front companies or via the black market.

How will anti-missle installations in Poland and Czeck Rep. counter that? Maybe we would be better served by putting the money to other deterrent efforts.

Yep.........but I'm just a country boy...........Dr Uzi Rubin......who has a somewhat more keen interest in this than you does also.........he has an online presentation on "Iran's missiles: Current and future Implications for Europe".
Where is that head of yours.......is it in the sand or mud or.......

I take your silence as accepting the fact that Iran is developing missiles, bombs etc for offensive purposes.......
