-Well, our discussion a couple of days ago about the prez's school message must have mirrored forums arounf teh country. There's just loads of traffic on this, and now it's breaking into mainstream media reports.
-Whatever Obama was going to say, I'll bet it will be gone over and changed in detail to ensure everyone is happy.
-However, I've posted in the URL block (and here in parens if URL block doesn't work: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqcPA1ysSbw ) a clip that is being used in schools. I find it offensive because I believe it goes over teh line into a cult of personality. It's fairly decent, if a little too leftist for my tastes, for about the first 80% of teh video, then some guys kissing his arms while calling tehm "Barrack" and "Obama", then Demi and her boychild say they, and by implications the kids, should want to be servants to Obama. Too much for me! Reminds me of all teh communist cult-of-personality films I saw in my studies about leaders in eastern europe and the old Soviet Union.
-The old pledge seemed pretty good to me.
-Jusy my view, --what's yours?

And liberals wonder why we call Obama the Messiah. The last time I checked I don't serve the President, he is supposed to serve us. This is why the Patriot Post includes a section in their email newsletter called Village Idiots and it is comprised almost entirely of quotes from Hollywood nutjobs.

Bizarre and deeply disturbing.......

That's why I pledge to support conservative politicians so we can restore a sense of sanity......

In several threads below I posted that my grandson's class would not be viewing or discussing the upcoming Obama speech. A portion of your reply to my post was: "I think it a little sad your grandson won't get to see the prez. No matter what he says, it can be used as a teachable moment."

After your viewing of the 'I Pledge' video which has been shown in some schools, do you now see why I applaud the decision by my grandson's school system not to show the Obama speech? The teachable moment here is for all the American people who care about freedom to finally comprehend the agenda of this president and his administration.

AU67,
-Yes, you make a good argument; and mine seems a little contradictory.
-I guess in my own mind I put the above clip into a lower propaganda level. --and I feel it should not be broadcast because we seem to be condoning it as what we want our kids to learn in school. ..and it's not what I want my grandkids tolearn. If it were my school, I'd be harassing teh school board.
-On the other hand, I see a speech by the president as a useful moment cuz we do want our kids to learn about the prez's office, our elected form of government, etc. ...and additionally, for me there often seems to be about most presidents that thought that a little kid from anywhere in America can make it to the White HOuse. I think that's important for kids to see, feel, believe!

To never watch that video again or else I might throw up.

A pledge (as I was taught by my mami and papi) is a commitment to do what you say you are going to do - pretty much like a promise. All of these "so called" stars have made some strong commitments in this video... however, I would like to follow up with all of them in 1 year (or 1 month) to see how they are coming along on their pledge. I'm pretty sure none of them will do anything that they have said they would do (Democratic way). I bet all of them forgot what they read on the teleprompters before they even left the building after recording this.

Can you say . . . Indoctrination?

I think the good old "Pledge Of Allegiance" was very good. But a few thought it had a bad word in it (God) so we have to get rid of it and have a bunch of un-moral, self righteous stars come out and read some stuff so the kids will say "wow, if the stars are committing to Obama. . . then I will to".

Incredible and sad. Wake Up!

If the president were going to teach a history lesson or a civics lesson about the office, I would have no problem. Unfortunately from what I have heard and read, this speech was to be political, not educational. As for the benefit of seeing the president, all you have to do is watch TV. He's on somewhere almost every night. In fact, the day after this broadcast to schools he will be on addressing the joint congress. Let's watch him then, in the privacy of our homes, and use that as a teachable moment to instill in our children the values to which we each subscribe.
