Was watching techs trashing engines in PERFECTLY GOOD vehicles that were traded in Cash for Clunkers. One example, perfectly good 2500 Chevy truck. Yea, it had 125k miles on it. A perfectly fine 350 engine, and cold a/c. Would have made a fine work truck or farm truck but nope.... We poor crap in the engine, turn on the a/c, crank it up and watch it distroy itself. Im not sure about this. Opinions?

Makes no sense, someone could have used the motor to rehab a vehicle that they have now. I guess having people going more deeply into debt is not a concern of the program.

I agree...I have saw what "I call" really nice cars traded in. Would have made a lot more sense to picked out the best ones, and traded with people that were driving "real" clunkers. Of course that would have made too much sense...the government trys to stay far away from rational thought as they can. Personally I was against the program...but dont it make us all feel good that us tax payers helped buy someone else a car? lol But since its already done, I hope it helps out in the long run.

-Yeah, crazy stuff! ...but from your posts above, it is apparent that you right wing extremeists don't understand teh rationale behind this whole program.
-Sure, I guess you coould argue that these were good trucks and motors "mechanically," ...but they were very bad trucks and motors "morally!" ...bad "ethically!" Sure they ran around doing heavy "work", ..."lifting" production "tools" from one place to another, ...hauling "products" from farm to "market," ...able to go off roads to get things done, ...BUT, ..come on man, they weren't very environmentally conscious! ...they weren't green.
-so now social justice has finally prevailed, green economics have triumphed, these capitalist work vehicles are replaced by little sedans that don't haul products, that don't haul tools, that don't go into the woods or fields, ...but are environmetally conscious! ...are green!
-But since jobs are getting fewer and fewer, it's only logical that work related vehicles should be getting fewer and fewer.
-come on guys, ...get on board!

I will subscribe to that train of thought as soon as someone comes up with viable hybrid 18 wheeler. We can't all drive "green" cars or the economy will grind to a halt. BTY, who really made out in this deal? The dealers, if they ever get paid. No discount, no trade in to hassle with, extra cash in their pocket. In the aftermath the consumer takes the 20% depreciation hit from driving a new car off the lot, and the people who could have used the truck described above, as well as the other "clunkers" will have a lower supply to choose from, driving the price of used cars up. Those who agree with this program are all using trolling motors only on their boats. Right???

I'm not sure that my posting "I'm not sure about this", "opinions please" qualifies you, Yankee to place me in any group such as right wing extremeists! You have no idea where I stand.(If you were refering to me at all). You did however make your opinion known. I can appreciate you for thoughts and they are respected. We certainly can agree to disagree at best. To bad you had to get your point across in such a bitter way.

CAT BOAT,
-Sorry, my wording in my above post didn't come across the way I intended.
-I was trying to agree with you by being comically ironic, --funny. But I guess I didn't pull it off too well.
-In teh future I'll leave the comedy to the stand-ups! ...nahhhh, I'll probably keep trying, I'll just be more careful in my choice of words and I'll use more smiley faces :) :) :)

LMAO, Now I read your post completely different. LMAO. Oh well, that is what I get for reading and posting on this forum. I think I may should stay on the Boat Maintanance forum. It is much more friendly over there. Now, I have to decide if I sign this form that the School my 9 year old goes too. Ya know, the one that says she can watch some telecast from the President while she is at school. I wonder why I can't watch it with her at home, during "Prime Time" T.V., where the President should deliver such an important message? Oh well, I got a motor to build.

Steve

My husband, who does nothing, HAHA, is LMAO. He never looks at this website, unless I ask him to. He thinks this is great. Maybe someday he will participate on his own. NOT. He is a goober/engineer.

Considering the relationship between global temps and carbon become more and more tenuous every day you have to really ask what this was all about. I am betting the energy used to manufacture the new vehicle partially or completely offsets the gas savings. This is just another reason why government can't be entrusted with any more of our hard earned dollars than they need to provide what the Constitution and our Founding Fathers believed should be provided by a federal government.

I am curious how your dealership has faired with all the red tape. Have they been repaid?

We faired ok. It did create traffic. We traded several vehicles and did not use the C4C program on some. There are paymenst starting to be made at this time.
