Why was there a boat ban? Who wanted it? What will it protect? Who will it harm? Why just three lakes?

One of the biggest reasons is environmental. The larger boats have larger poo-poo tanks and the fear is that they will dump there tanks in the lake rather than having them pumped out. Not a very valid reason since there are numerous septic tanks already leaching into the lake, but I guys this will prevent the problem from getting bigger. Also there are bunch of wusses that don't like fast boats. This arguement is flawed too. It is analogous to guns. People kill people, guns don't kill people. There are plenty of morons out there that put along at 20 mph and are a danger too others. A boat can be operated at high speeds in a safe manner.

is a non-issue. Just make the Y-Valve illegal.

The oddest thing this ban prohibits is houseboats which should be another non-issue. But something else is at work here.

Houseboats are run very little -generally between the dock and a cove or beach. They travel slow and easy and don't tear up things unless you have the one idiot who likes to burn 25 Gal/hr and they would be easy to catch.

lakes and snakes...I like that. Actually, it was getting close to the end of the year, and I was trying to figure some way to make the annual Big Foot awards. Sorta like a guinness record for dumbest question.

Actually, I am curious about the background. Most BIG boats go fast enough that their wake is minimal. I agree with others that slow 22' boats do much more damage, if damage was the issue.

Maybe to prevent people from living on boats and not buying real estate. Our SeaRay was our beach home for years in the 80s.

Yes isn't it funny now we have a law to outlaw big boats but we can make a big wake and buy a surf board and then get our picture in the magazine SURFING ON THE LAKE!! Now go figure that one!! Yes i am p----- and i don't need any one telling me!

HillJacks, That is why there is a boat ban. The hilljacks get out in their speed boats with the loud mufflers ruinng the lakes peaceful atmosphere. The Hilljacks need to take these boats and the large mobile homes on water to the river.

There is a boat ban because of money, requested by people with land and money, to protect their monetary investment. They do not have land on the other lakes that they are hoping to develop and sell to people who cannot camp out on their boats now.

Wonder why we have speed limits on our highways? Dang wusses. People can drive these things safely. However, it is the 20 MPH pontoon that also has rights. Boat congestion, combined with high speed can create a severe situation. And, as mentioned before some of the slower boats can cause bigger problems.
Maybe we can just ban fishing, trolling, and late afternoon cruises.
The supposed pedigree on this forum never ceases to amaze.
Where the H*ll did some of you folks come from?

big boats do not necessarily plane out. I have seen floating docks almost turned over from idiots who just happen to be driving big boats.

Weekenders enjoying the lake for a few days. What's wrong with that?

Problem is most people blame the big boat, when they should blame the idiot operator, and I think lakngulf meant big fast boats (I could be wrong) I know a boat like Cats makes less wake at 60mph than my 20' boat at 25mph, and I also think you know that as well:)peace
