The CBO says the Baucus approach will cost $829 billion over ten years but reduce the deficit?!?!? How do they accomplish such an amazing accounting feat you ask? Answer: higher taxes on everyone, cuts in Medicare that will impact senior citizens and millions left uncovered. See below from Heritage:

Just a preliminary analysis. The CBO makes very clear that its analysis is based on Sen. Baucus' plain-English draft proposal. It is not based on final legislative language, so the cost estimates are subject to drastic change.

Real cost may be far higher. The $829 billion ten-year cost could easily underestimate the real burden. "Virtually all cost estimates of government programs underestimate the true cost," she argues. Just look at programs like Medicare, which came in about eight times more expensive than early projections.

'Paid for' with new taxes. How do you turn $829 billion in spending into an $81 billion deficit reduction? In part by raising taxes. Individuals who choose not to purchase government-approved health coverage and employers who opt not to provide coverage to their employees will face heavy taxes. And new taxes on insurance companies will simply be passed on to consumers in the form of higher premiums.

'Paid for' with unlikely cuts. The other way the Left would pay for this bill is by cutting Medicare. How likely are these cuts? Not very, Owcharenko says: "Traditionally, such cuts rarely come to fruition. Special interests lobby to stop any real cuts from occurring after the bill is passed."

Leaves millions uninsured. Despite spending $829 billion or more specifically to provide insurance to those without it, 26 million people will still lack coverage. Of those who do receive government coverage, approximately half of them will be dumped into Medicaid -- "a program sorely in need of reform itself."

CBO did their job and told the truth. The only way this works is with higher taxes, cuts in Medicare for our beloved seniors and dumping 2/3rds of the alleged uninsured onto the streets or into Medicaide. Good grief....its no wonder a majority of Americans don't want this and don't trust the government. What is sad/comical/sickening is the government media's portrayal of the report. No wonder they are losing customers in droves to the alternative media.

According to a healthcare expert, the health care plan currently being debated in the United States Senate (America's Healthy Future Act) will fine Americans up to $1,900 if they do not purchase health insurance, and if they refuse to pay the fine, they can be thrown in jail for a year or fined $25,000. And the IRS would be the government agency coming after you to collect. Dennis Smith is a senior fellow in healthcare reform at The Heritage Foundation's Center for Health Policy Studies. He says that penalty is just one of the many "hidden, unknown consequences" in the legislation. (Baucus' proposal contains 'hidden consequences')

The plan will also force severe rationing of health care to seniors by penalizing the 10% of doctors who submit the most in reimbursements to Medicare. This inevitably will pressure doctors to prescribe fewer and cheaper treatments just to avoid being the one doctor in 10 whose pay will be docked.
Since there will be a top 10% every year, doctors are likely to severely restrict treatment anywhere and everywhere they can, because they will have no way of knowing where the threshold is.

Hmmm...the truth will scare you....unless youre a liberal, then you ignore it.

Throw them in jail for not buying health ins. and once again the taxpayers have to furnish their health care free of charge to them.Sounds about like what they have now.

WSomething that yall are missing is what I heard Karl Rove say was that the taxes and income would start now. It would go for the next ten years but the benefits would not start for another two to three years. Income for ten years payout for 7+ years. Looks like it is more costly per year than they are saying. Huh Isn't that a new one! ! !
