This expected blip in the stock market due to Trump's (IMO ill-advised) tariff strategy in perspective can be seen in the chart below.  This is why equities are for long-term investing and panic selling when there is a drop is as foolish as it gets.  Especially when the drop is caused by a short term event like many of those shown in the chart.  And note that many of them have been far worse than the current blip, at least so far.  That's why I keep 3 years of spending needs in a non-equity investment....so I am not forced to sell equities during a temporary downturn.

So don't let the govt media panic porn or Democrat lies rattle you.  While I think retalitory tariffs are not the way to address what is clearly a problem with how other countries abuse our largesse, I am willing to wait and see if Trump is correct in his approach or if he has to abandon it.  I frankly hope he succeeds because it will be positive for American businesses and workers but it will take time.
