Never thought on this Forum that Safety Considerations would be questioned by any posters. Then a simple post of interest turned into questions and some personal attacks.

Like the Politicians say – I am qlad you asked.

First to the post by the Extremist CEO - His comment “He fed at the public trough all his life” Yes Sir, Most of my adult life I had a career as a Civil Servant in The Department of Defense. I am pleased with my past career, and I am honored that I was able to serve. Here is what the food was like at the “public trough”. Entered the U.S. Army from the Great State of Alabama after graduating from Troy State University. Served in Viet Nam with the Combat Engineers in the 538th Engineer Company (Jungle Clearing). If you think that was cake served at the trough then request the SITREPs for that unit. Feeding sessions included firing shots in anger/fear, getting shot at, and calling in artillery, air support, and sadly medivac choppers. My non-active duty career was in the Department of Defense with the Army Materiel Command, Defense Nuclear Agency and at the Department of Defense. Responsible for buying everything that our sons and daughters in the Army needed from bullets to beans.

You Sir are nothing but a natt agitating me at every opportunity you can. It is obvious by your continuous buzzing on this Forum. Now please tell us what trough you have fed at or currently feasting at? You want because, unlike me, you are ashamed of your vocation and have never served anyone but your own sorry butt. Does anyone know what CEO does? He only attacks others since he is so insecure in his own life.

To Hosocat – I did not take your post as a personal attack, but you did raise a few issues that I will provide a personal opinion response. I had an Alabama vehicle license and registration for 17 years. I visit Alabama regularly and have family in that community. Own property in Alabama and specifically on Lake Martin. Lived in two other States for 23 years that require annual vehicle safety inspections (not 6 months). I have owned two to three vehicles at a time during that tenure and have failed the safety inspection twice. (Once with a burned-out tag light and once with a faulty emergency brake.) Both were legitimate. I had a safety inspection last Monday and it took a total of less than thirty minutes from my house through the inspection and on to my next destination. They perform a thorough inspection to include removing your hubs for a visual brake inspection. I keep my vehicles on an average of about eight years. Like I said, I visit Alabama and I do have decent eye sight. I can visit Walmart in Alex City and walk down a line of parked vehicle and spot at least two out every twenty-five that would fail a safety inspection just from bald tires or missing signals or lights. That is not a thorough inspection. I was in Alex City last September, and my parked truck was struck by a vehicle since its brakes would not stop it while parking.

I will not address a number of other issues that were mentioned or touched upon by CEO or Hoscat since they are somewhat blatant and not Germaine.

Bottom Line - If it saves one life, it is worth a little expense and trouble. Please remember that all government is not bad. How about the cut-backs in our National Security Agencies that may of caused us preventing the terrorist attacks?

Oh well, I will go back and hunker down in my foxhole and wait for the incoming.
