First of all I notice you are changing the subject from your own hypocrisy and insulting of independents but I will respond anyway.

If you pulled your head out of the pmsnBS talking heads rear ends you would realize that the vast majority of social conservatives have no problem with civil unions. Frankly most of us would prefer that the government not be involved in these issues in the first place. But such is life when government has to intrude on every aspect of our lives.

What we object to is the doomed attempt to redefine marriage so gays can try to obtain a sense of legitimacy that natural law and God's law will never allow. Even if they get the legal right to marry, even if they get the government to try to force people to violate their religious convictions, they will still not be satisfied. That is quite simply because in their inner being and their soul they know that homosexuality is disordered and not God's plan. That they lack the discipline and formation to overcome same-sex attraction (which is a cross that 2%-3% of the population carries) is something that dooms them to a life of unease and dissatisfaction. Just look at the rate of mental illness, disease, etc. in the homosexual community as compared to the general population. And look at the rate of deviant behavior, infidelity, etc. in that community. We also object to any setting for raising a child other than one man and one woman in a marriage because there are copious studies that demonstrate conclusively that this is the best possible arrangement for a child to be raised.
