You can assure your son that while I support protest under the Constitution, I certainly do not support rioting, destruction of private property, looting, arson or murder. The words from Madonna were stupid and uncalled for. Remind him that  over a million protested across the US this weekend and there were zero arrests.

I have taught my family the same values I have and those I learned saving people as member of the US Coast Guard. You find, of my over 5,000 posts, nothing that would encourage support for any riot.

When I worked in Philadelphia, i took the train to work and used to  be greeted by peolpe in the subway concourse people who lived in refrigerator boxes. Whenever we had a party at work, I would take leftover food down to the subway concourse and hand out sandwiches. A few times, I invited my kids to join me and walk the concourse. It gave them a quick education of the real world. I would encourage you to take your son to a homeless shelter and volunteer.
