I spent 37 years working for an insurance company. I do not know if your coverage is for a second home that is not occipied year round. Some companies do not like those dwellings. Yor rates are driven by items such as claim history and your deductible. Ot does not pay to submit small claims as they will raise your rates to recover the claim and the increase will last 3 years. I have a $1,000 deductible on auto, home, and boat. Use the coverage for a big claim if needed and pay the small ones yourself. They will raise your rates if you file a claim and nothing is paid to cover the cost of the adjuster coming to your house.

Once again check your deductible. If you have $250 that will cause your rates to be high. If you have any history of filing a claim that too will drive up your premium. And, the company may not like lake property.
