Just finished my dock with Trex. There are several other competitors now with better products than the origianl Trex and it is now being replaced with a new formula by Trex. The advantages of the new are better color retention and more wood-like look. I would also look at Ipe (Jim - stay out of it!!!). A very dense and long lasting tropical wood that looks like dark mahoganey. Note to Jim - the supplies of this wood are very good and it is being farmed in South America.
