We looked at both Trex and Ipe when building a new home on the lake. The cost of Trex versus premium grade treated wood was substantial. Same for the Ipe. You could have built two or three decks of premium wood for the cost of one Trex or Ipe. You also need to be aware that installation costs are higher. Not sure about Trex but Ipe is so hard you have to use screws with predrilled holes versus nails which adds to the overall cost. We decided to go with premium treated one based on the cost. Hope this helps.
