Hound: You could have written the very same epithet for America in the 1970's when the hapless Jimmy Carter spoke of our national malaise. You could have written the very same thing in the 1930's when we were in the grips of the Depression. You could have written the very same thing in the 1860's when we were coming apart at the seams over state's rights and slavery. You have to pull yourself out of your limited world view and see this from an historical perspective. I know, you are going to tell me things are different now.....they are always different now and yet over and over we have emerged from the ashes and to ignore history and assume you are living under some sort of special, unique circumstances dooms you to repeat the mistakes of the past.

If the United States enters a period of steady decline it will only be because of a lack of leadership. Right now, like in the 1970's, we have zero leadership and even worse, a leadership that sees America in a vastly different way than most Americans. Reagan brought us back from the brink and new leadership can do so once again. But to try to set this aside from Mr. Obama is exactly wrong. He has the potential, he has the respect of other world leaders, he is perceived as a uniter not a divider. There is so much he could do to restore our rightful place as the last great hope for the world but he won't because he does not see America that way.
