Just heard about a school system in Rhode Island with a 48% graduation rate. What did the school board do? Cleaned house! Gave all the teachers pink slips! I'm assuming the Supt. is also gone at the end of the year.

The state of RI said enough is enough. If the new regime cannot correct the problem, the school will be shut down.

The only problem that I have with this is - Will this wind up being "pass the trash"? If it's a student issue, other schools will be contaminated. If it was teachers, the school has a chance to succeed.
