When I hired on the company had been wrapped up in that consarned leveraged buyout craze of the mid-80s and as a result one of the first things I was faced with after hiring on in 1989 was a bankruptcy announcement. I thought "what the he!! did I just get myself into?". But the CEO had a plan, rid the company of the parts it really shouldn't have bought anyway, traded debt for stock, and came out strong. Then it bought a company twice its size. Then it bought others -- but unlike the leveraged buyout days they were acquisitions of companies within the core line of business. Soon after, it was purchased by a British company and a foreign-owned US company was formed. That lasted about a year, then we were purchased by a larger international (UK-based) firm. Again, we are a US company, but foreign owned. We have (and I am sure you are aware of this) a special security arrangement that firewalls us from our international brethren - thus allowing us to carry very high security clearances.

But the bottom line is this. We aren't a (I just can't bring myself to name the 8astards). We pride ourselves on providing a fair product for a fair wage. We aren't the biggest, but are getting closer and the real biggies better watch out, because we have a plan and intend to execute.
