DAMN, how tough is that?? Too tough?? Then you do not deserve the right to own an animal.
Case in Point: A beautiful mixed breed female Golden Retriever/Lab/etc with a gorgeous golden coat and light brown (hug me) eyes,,,, followed me around our place for 3 days last week. Slept on the porch at night. No aggresion. And, of course, NO TAGS!!! CRAP. Just had to feed her; how could we not??
Call to AC Animal Control in case we had to deliver her there.
During the last day she would show up with a different tennis ball in her mouth for play time. AHA! A local dog with a supply of tennis balls. And an owner who don't give a rat's behind.
I understand why people come to the lake and release their dogs/cats to run loose, after being caged/cooped up all week long. The dogs enjoy it and so do the owners. I recognize Sadie, Sally, Roscoe, Spookie, Elmo, Daisy, etc, etc, and they leave me a surprise in the lawn sometimes, and that is OK. (Kind of) And we have to referee dogfights sometimes, even though we don't own a dog. That ain't the point!!
The Message: Dog Owners?? Tag your dogs with a cell# so I can call you to verify that your much adored and poorly cared for animal is not a stray, in which case I take them to the Animal Shelter where they will PUT THEM DOWN, because you don't care.
Better yet, maybe a chip could be implanted in the animal to identify the owner, and have him put down??
If you have to let them run, at least give me the chance to contact you before they are destroyed.
