Hound, great answers all the way around. My fervent hope is that IF the poll numbers for Obama continue downward, unemployment stays high and the generic number for GOP stays high vis-a-vis Dems then there will be a number of high quality GOP candidates coming to the fore. If job numbers improve as does his chances for reelection then I suspect we will get another set of retreads like we had in 2008. Some people for you to consider are Bobby Jindal, Paul Ryan and several others. You will also see the usual retreads but let's hope the GOP keeps their sanity and puts forward someone new, competent and politically attractive.

And just to be clear (I know GF is already formulating a pointed response), I really hope the job numbers do improve, even if it means it improves Obama's prospects for reelection which is clearly the lesser of two evils. That won't happen by 2012 so I anticipate a big shift in Congress to the GOP. If that happens I suspect some semblance of sanity will return to government policy on the legislative side and maybe the job numbers will improve. Good for America and good for Obama, even if he doesn't really deserve credit. But to be clear, I do not want people to continue to suffer just to improve the GOP political prospects. In that regard I am unlike the left who don't mind bad news for America if it helps them take advantage of a good crisis to enact their big government statist wet dreams as they have done since Obama took office.
