It really would be helpful to know what road this was on. It's a big lake, but if I've got idiots in my neighborhood popping off rounds at a dog or anything else I want to know for my own family's protection and precaution. As it is, you've narrowed it down to a couple counties only.

I personally would have called the sheriff on the spot. Absent the dog chewing on a kid, there's no reasonable cause for this no matter how far in the country you are and they were complete idiots. Your husband is very lucky he didn't get shot as well, accidentally or intentionally.
