I know the owner of this business and consider her a friend. As to the percentage that the school sees from these fundraisers, 40-45%. Before you make judgement on the percentage, keep in mind these things: She hires (and pays) local people to work with her, thereby, helping our community. Schools WANT to do this because they get more out of these fundraisers than by trying to elicit individual donations from parents. I know of new gym floors, signs on football fields, an entire gym was built with funds raised by this company. As any business goes, there are always overhead costs. She has to pay her employees, pay for and maintain a warehouse, pay shipping costs, insurance, taxes, etc., etc. As for donating paper and items directly, I've done that in the past and it does not always benefit the child or class you are donating to. Everyone has an opinion and that's fine. This business is on the up and up and I'm sure Miss Julie would welcome a visit from local people wanting to know more about what she does for her meager living. I know I cringe when I see the kids coming with their order forms and wonder how much of my money is actually helping. Ask Miss Julie, she's a wonderful, good-hearted lady who believes in what she's doing.
