The union votes may be more interesting this time for the following reasons:

1. Workers in these non-union plants realize that their pay is as high as it is mainly because ubions have caused high pay in teh union plants. Foreign owners realize they need to keep the non-union pay close enough to the union pay to first, make a good profit, and second, to keep the union out of these factories.

2. In this recent economic downturn, these non-union factories for the first time had to let people go, put them on leave, etc. One of my relatives in the Mercedes plant in Vance Alabama said workers were really unhappy about how this was done and that they believed things would have been done better if union layoff rules had applied.

In the end, the results of the new union push will probably remain th same, non-union factories. But things will be closer, and if teh government interfers with "card check" and others pressures, things just might end up differently.
