Look, I did not say that every independent voted for Obama but unfortunately for you far too many self-identified "independents" did vote for Obama and that was the difference between he and McCain. He was not carried to the WH by Republicans or conservatives but by independents. I am sorry you have self identified yourself with that group but there you are. And as I said, the fault lies with the GOP in not presenting a candidate that would be attractive to conservative leaning (social, fiscal or both) self proclaimed independents. Although I would say that given the economy and what was obviously a certain level of fatigue with W I am not sure even the best possible GOP candidate could have prevailed.
