In addition to your post, we have found that Lake Martin only provides less than 1/4 of one percent (0.24%) of the megawatts produced by Alabama Power.  The entire Tallapoosa River system (Harris, Martin, Yates, and Thurlow) produces a little over 1/2 on one percent (0.64%). 

Also, interesting is the fact that Alabama Power sells about 7% of their production to other electric companies outside Alabama, which means they are using Alabama citizen's water for other states.  While it's good business to sell excess capacity, it's questionable whether doing so at the expense of Alabama's citizens is best.  By state law, all water in Alabama belongs to the citizens of Alabama. 

Don't know it everyone noticed that APCo rates have gone up about 9% in the last couple of months.
