It has been many years since I shopped insurance but the last time I did when I had two homes they required both be covered. I have a sister who had the same experience 6-7 years ago, but that was before the 'to big to fail' fiasco so maybe they have changed the rules now.

I have very good friends who are now are now shopping for a new agent since experiencing wind damage lately. They got attitude and run around when they filed their claim and eventually denied. On top of that the adjuster didn't replace the plastic on the roof when he left and now the interior damage has doubled. He went when the clients weren't there. Fortunately two neighbors saw him and watched him leave without replacing the plastic. His excuse was there was no need for the plastic because there wasn't enough damage to be causing leaks. Had he gone when he had access to the inside he would have clearly seen the water damage to the ceiling. I want call names but I was quite shocked due to local reputation.
