Hey GF, we were told to be happy about the July 3 BLS report because the numbers dropped 5K. But compared to the previous weeks revised figures, we went UP about 30K? Can you 'splain this? BTW, hope you get to enjoy a global warming induced soggy 4th of July!
July 3, 2013: In the week ending June 29, the advance figure
for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 343,000, a decrease of 5,000
from the previous week's revised figure of 348,000. June 28, 2013: In
the week ending June 23, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted
initial claims was 313,000, a decrease of 13,000 from the previous
week's revised figure of 326,000. So, 313,000 - 343,000 = a decrease in unemployment of 5,000. Or an increase in unemployment of 30,000.
