Pit Bulls, like all domesticated breeds, were bred to do certain things. Pits were originally bred to hunt and kill huge wild boar hogs and other large game. Large powerful jaws and the tendency to fight to the death were bred in to facilitate this. You can't remove these traits by training or lovingly raising them. Dogs are not people. Like most domesticated animals their breeding instincts will take over in certain situations.

Think about it; can you teach a retriever not to retrieve? A pointer not to point? A Beagle not to run? Of course not.

What's making the matter worse is the epidemic of illegal drug trafficking. Drug dealers keep these animals for self defense and the more aggressive they are the better. Sooner or later when the drug trafficker is locked up, many of these dogs will find their way into the general population because of the fashionable popularity of "rescuing" a dog that nobody wants. This is how we get innocent and unwary neighbors and their children killed.

You may get the feelie-goods about "rescuing" a dog like this but how good will you feel when something terrible happens. We see it in the news almost every day

So go ahead and get one and get the feelie-goods about rescuing one of these powerful animals. Just don't be surprised when it rips off some innocent person's face. Then you will get to "feelie-good" about your rescue ruining or costing someone else's life. Not to mention having to pay a lawyer to defend yourself
