As a former professional financial planner and current owner of a tax consulting business, I've never yet seen a case where a reverse mortgage was the best option....and it doesen't matter how local the agent is or how one dresses it up.  Buyer beware, and talk to an experienced and licensed financial planner; preferably one that that doen't have a financial interest in your decision. Also do your own homework. Look at other options and I'd be willing to bet you can find a better one. The following articles lay out a few ideas and options.
