The GOP better be careful what they wish for. I like Webb and suspect a lot of reasonable Republicans do too. If Trump or Cruz is the GOP choice a Webb run would be good news for the democrats, not the GOP, because he would get a some of the votes of the Bush, Kasich, Rubio, Christy supporters. If The GOP comes to its senses and nominates Bush, Kasich, Rubio or Christy, a Webb run would be much less likely but even if it happened the voters taken from each party would be minimal and likely a wash. If Hillary selects Tim Caine as her veep you can forget about any Webb run regardless of the GOP's selection, and if the GOP nominates Trump (and maybe even Cruz) then look for a possible GOP establishment candidate from the middle...maybe even a Webb/Graham or Graham/Webb run from the center. At a minimum, a Trump or Cruz run will garner very little support from the reasonable center and is more likely to draw outright hostility if not an independent candidate.
