Your last post asking why would anyone want the underwater lights on if only those away from the boat can see them suggest a look at me.

According to the Marine police, they are not illegal to operate and to your point, others would see them. If others see them then they know your location relative to their location. That goes in the night time safety column does it not?

As a side note, people inside the boat can enjoy the blue wake from the boat at night. 

Good grief guys. One of the things I love about the lake is all the great people that we have meet and formed friendships. I think I will stick to meeting people on the water and not on a forum.
