Let them take away the charity deduction and the vast majority of charitable donations will dry up.  None of ours help very much, since we tend to randomly help out in specific instances.  I have a wide ciricle of animal friends (cat friends, dog friends, rescues) that I like to help out whenever I can, but Bill Gates, I am not.
