Subject:   winterizing boats

Question for the the "seasoned old sailors" on the board, just what does "winterizing" an outboard engine involve? Is it really necessary for one that is not in need of maintenance? The marinas seem to really push this, and it seems to me a little bit much. Any good info would be appreciated.
