Mav,

I will try to put my position forth so you and any others can understand where a lot of the animosity is coming from. First we have to jump in our way back machine and go back to 2000 – 2001. At that time myself, and a few friends, were about the only ones that posted here on a regular basis. Then a few others found the forum. Two of those being Lakeman and feb (aka max. aka lamar). The forum took a decided twist at that time. The number of posts started to really pile up, mainly because feb responded to EVERY post that anybody made. My favorite was the one about a guy that “inherited” an uncut diamond and wanted advice on how to ‘cut it’. A post went up, and almost immediately feb responded with advice on how to proceed. Then the truth was revealed that it was a bet between two guys. One had bet that he could make the most outrageous post and feb would respond. He won. Feb also posted such asinine questions as “where is the best place on Lake Martin for calamari?” Feb also got a bad rap because he posted one day in a thread about Horseshoe Bend. His innocent, remark was taken out of context and he got flamed for the post. He always came across an elitist, but a lot of the grief was undeserved, but a lot wasn’t IMHO. The line was really crossed when someone took an INNOCENT remark he made and called him a pediphile. Sound familiar? Probabaly not because I had the last one of those posts removed immediately after Lakeman did the EXACT same thing to me last week. Most of you never even saw it I’m sure, as it was only up a few minutes. Now lakeman would have you believe that he has NEVER posted under any other alias, I KNOW better, and have the evidence to prove it. Not saying he is the one that did it to feb way back then, but leopards don’t change their spots.

Now at the same time, Lakeman discovered the forum. If you go back and read some of his posts, they sound like recruitment ads for the K*K*K (the 3k’s together is still on the blocked word list I suppose). In fact, that is what brought the banned words list and the FBI page into being. His racist rants were so bad he was dubbed with the moniker of lakeman, but with 3 k’s in it (still on the banned words list I’m sure). Bruce had to delete many threads back then.

Now we come to their nemesis Burran!! Of course, to read the forum, it is a given fact to some that Burran and I are one in the same. I do know him, and like him a lot. Really a nice guy, but he definitely likes his puddin’ stirred. I did conspire with him at times to help harass the two of them, but trust me, Burran didn’t need any help in that regard. Still doesn’t in fact, although he has toned it down on here for the sake of unity in the past couple of years.

Now lets jump back in our machine and get to the last few weeks. I let something get to me a while back in regards to feb and advertising on the forum. It flew all over me that day that he posted CAT’s website, but ONLY because he has, since day one, been the first to flame anybody that dared post a plug for their business. For the record, I have no problem with an occasional post from someone trying to increase business and hence income. I see feb’s argument that it is against the rules and don’t want the forum eat up with adverts. I did find it very hypocritical of feb to do what he has been so strongly against all these years and said so. In that thread I got goaded into posting some old trash from the early years that crossed the line decency. For that I will make a public apology to feb here and now. This is sincere and I hope he will accept it in the spirit it is offered. I feel certain that he will. I have actually come to think a lot of feb here of late. We still have different opinions on most issues, but that is no reason not to get along. I have other friends and relatives that I don’t see eye to eye with, but we get along fine. Think about it guys. The Green Monster lights have become very popular. Would any of you have heard about them if the fellow had not posted a thread here? And who was the first to chime in about advertising? Nuff said on that matter.

Now to the current level of discourse, I became the devil incarnate when I came out in support of the ‘locals’ on the WWTP issue. Suddenly I became a big, ugly ogre that wanted to poison the water and kill babies, all while draining the lake so APCO could make more money. I started out trying to be the voice of reason amongst all of those screaming for heads to roll. I followed the issue in the local paper as I have in another town I lived in that had similar issues. My point was, rather than make trouble, or try to anyway, why not work with folks instead of against them. I was promptly skewered and my character and intelligence were attacked. So I became defensive. I did not try to read the 14 pages of the consent decree, too much minutia and legalese for me and my Judge Judy law degree. There was, however, a very nice flow chart on page 15-16 that laid it out in VERY simple terms that anyone could read and understand. I think a lot of the folks tried to read the consent decree and got caught up in the document and misconstrued it. That is neither here nor there at this point however. The issue is, THAT is when the attacks on me began. I did not start the war of words. I just won it.

And now for the favorite subject, WATER LEVELS. I will preface this with the fact that I have a family member who is on a first name basis with past and present presidents and CEO’s of APCO. He has been involved in the management of the Alabama waterways for about 30 years now. He is the reason I have such an interest in APCO history, with an emphasis on my favorite lake. That would be Lake Martin. I LOVE this lake. My whole life has been centered on this lake. It is what keeps me grounded and looking forward to life every day. Bottom line is I feel that I have a better perspective on the management of the waterways because I have been exposed to how ‘the system’ works from an inside perspective. I tend to take it personally when I hear criticisms of how APCO ‘mismanaged’ the lake level. That is because some of those you are criticizing are family. Bottom line on this one though is, what is done is done and can’t be changed. I personally know that APCO has made the best out of a VERY bad situation. Someone stated that if low lake levels are all you can find to complain about, you got it pretty darn good. I couldn’t agree more. All it does to us is make it harder for us to PLAY. Think about the downstream towns that are worrying where their drinking water is going to come from. Or the factory workers that worry about lay offs because the plant depends on the river for water. Do you think they may have a little bit more to complain about?

So the issue is, did I really start the attacks? I don’t see it that way and I think there are a lot of folks that agree with me. Lakeman has been working behind the scenes for a while now to work the crowd into a lather over me. It is OK, he can keep it up. I don’t care. I, and many others who have been around since the beginning, know the truth. I understand that some of you have gotten to know one another and communicate both on and off the forum. Good or you. But it is STILL AN ANONYMOUS FORUM. Those that choose to remain anonymous should not be disregarded as undeserving. Some of you might want to do a little research on who and what your recent additions to your circle of friends may or may not be. It is also the general consensus among lakeman and his ilk that I have many aliases. I HAVE ONLY ONE. I have used others in the past, so have lakeman and feb. Granted th
