I'm no "tree hugger," but I am for responsible management and respect for the land and nature. Not at ALL costs, but at all reasonable costs.I firmly believe that laws and regulations should always apply equally to all. That seldom happens, especially around here, but I can't seem to move past the thought that no one is above the law.

Incidently, the "Cathrine" of which you speak and read about has gone on to a better place. She was a fine, unassuming woman who "got" the lake. That is why her name is being thrown around by those who wish to use every advantage possible to turn a profit. Were she still alive, she woul most definitely sue to keep her name from being associated with the very things she stood so firmly against. She truly loved the lake, and she despised those who saw it only as a profit center, and stood against them even after she had passed on.

Incidently, I have found all of the quarrys, dumps, etc, in my walks around the lake (I walk to see nature at every chance I get). As I come across them, I either mark them in my GPS, or make a mental note of where they are, then look at aerial photos later. Its just easier to show people a picture of a dumpsite and the way it kills the land rather than say "they dumped shingles and paint near Willow Point" and have the full impact register.

I have since learned that the dumpsite I posted just outside Willow Point has a permit for "temporary storage." If it is "temporary," why do they bury it in the ground?
