Did you know Lake Martin has flying fish?

Out on pier with neighbor about 2 weeks ago looking at fish around lights and all of a sudden a striper breaks the surface after a spot tail and I promise you over a 25 to 30 foot span the striper did not touch the water. or if he did he was barely touching it Then for the funny part - the spot ran right past a 6x6 dock support post and the striper did not see it hit it head on with a very loud THUG. We both were laughing so hard then we walked over to see if the striper was dead or unconscious and he was gone.

Neighbor has been on lake for over 40 years and said he had never witnessed anything like that in his life and is a avid fisherman. Lets just say he was in awe.

We now have come to the conclusion these lights draw some real strange fish species unnatural to Lake Martin, after several adult cocktails:

Flying Fish
Flounders - 3 lb Crappie
Sharks - 7 or so pound Cats
Whales - Have to be large Stripers the best we can tell as they swim by the light and the entire light is blacked out. and the Tail spam is out 6 inches or so. But definitely not a Cat, could be a carp but hard to tell.

Lets just say I hope you are enjoying your lights as much as my neighbor and I are. Makes for some great cocktail conversations. Plus the kids are having a blast catching all sorts of fish.
